Uthala rituals are organised as a mark of remembrance of the loved ones who have left for their heavenly abode.According to the Hindu rituals , on the fourth day after the demise of a person , uthala ceremony is organised in his/her memory.
The Uthala ceremony comprises of light melodious bhajans , Naam Sankeertana and a short discourse on spiritual matters. It is believed that the departed soul finally leaves for its heavenly abode only after the uthala ceremony. That is why this ceremony holds great importance in Hinduism.
